Our Climbing Wall is Competent Climber-led.
If you’ve passed our competency test you can check availability and book on by calling The Street reception on (01723) 480033.
Sessions are priced at £10 for adults and £7.50 under 18s – maximum of 8 climbers per session.
Equipment hire is also available £2 per item or £5 for three items.
Competent Climbers can sign-in two other people (aged 7-70) under their supervision.
If you’ve climbed before, have sufficient experience and are ready to undertake our competency test and become registered as an unsupervised climber please complete this online form, once received we will contact you to arrange the next steps.
BMC Participation Statement
The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions

I am a novice – how can I climb?
We are running 1-2-1 taster sessions for adults whereby – subject to availability – you try out the wall with one of our volunteer competency testers. This will give you an idea if climbing is something you would like to pursue.

Taster sessions cost £12.50 for an hour.
Instructor led sessions
We run open sessions for novices wanting to learn and experienced climbers wanting to increase their skills.
Sessions are run as follows:
Mondays:
Monday’s kids clubs with Jamie and Nate – £5 per child – sessions are at 4.00 and 5.30
Tuesdays:
4.30 – 6pm; 6 – 7.30pm and 7.30 – 9pm open sessions all ages
£10 per person
Socials – Wednesday and Thursday 4.00–6.00pm – £7.50
Taster sessions – £12.50
Competency tests – £12.50
For all other bookings members (competent climbers) are £8 and can sign in up to two novices (£10 adult, £7.50 child).
Blue light offer – free taster session and thereafter £2 off entry (so £8 for novice, £6 for competent) for all emergency services, including coastguard, mountain rescue, police, fire service, NHS
How do I hire the wall for a school, event or organisation?
You can rent the whole wall exclusively by the hour, session, or day. You bring in your own qualified instructor and the wall is yours.
For due diligence we will need copies of the instructor’s:
- CWI or RCI qualification
- First Aid Qualification (8hrs for CWI or 16hrs for RCI), and
- Public Liability Insurance stating ‘Sports Liability’ (minimum £5M)
