We’re really excited to share our new report bringing together three years of communityconversations across Scarborough, hearing from over 1300 local people.
The findings offer a clear and consistent message – our communities are not disengaged – they are underpowered.
The report highlights the relationship between:
- Community power and economic security
- Social infrastructure and resilience
- Trust, participation and systems effectiveness
It also aligns closely with national thinking (the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, UK Government’s Pride in Place Strategy, and the Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods, amongst others) providing a grounded local evidence base for how these issues are being experience in practice.
A key takeaway is that:
Community power is not an add-on – it is essential infrastructure for resilience and long term system sustainability.
We hope this report is useful in shaping ongoing work and conversations. We would welcome the opportunity to explore how these insights can inform shared priorities and practical action.
