CHILDRENS UNIVERSITY
Since 2022 we have worked with primary schools in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale to deliver Children’s University, a project which enables children to broaden their horizons and take part in activities they may not ordinarily participate in.
This in turns improves their resilience, engages and inspires them and helps them to reach their full potential. Children’s University recognises and rewards any learning children do outside of school. This ranges from baking at home to visiting museums and galleries and everything in between. The activities are recorded in a Passport to Learning which is recognised across the UK with over 5000 public and on-line learning destinations, providing a nationally recognised tool for encouraging, tracking and celebrating learning. In year 6, if the children have recorded 30 or more activities, they attend a graduation style ceremony to recognise and reward their achievements fostering feelings of aspiration and pride.
We worked with 18 SCHOOLS in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale
We helped over 400 children graduate.
The project finished in 2025
