Random Acts of Greenness – the Great Big Green Week 2025

With the Great Big Green Week 2025 landing on Saturday, we have been starting to think about our Random Acts of Greenness – small things that we can each do to help protect the environment.  Here are the first eighteen, from David, to inspire you 🙂

Do let us know about your Random Acts of Greenness – if you e-mail them, with a photo, to we’ll put them out on our social media channels to inspire others.

1. I got an allotment eight years ago and its transformed the way I think about food.  It’s also a great way to get fresh air and exercise

3. I love my new hearing aids but they dont half go through batteries.  I’m saving them in a repurposed jar so i can recycle them responsibly.

13. Keeping clean doesn’t have to involve plastic.

14. Our natural peatlands capture and store huge amounts of carbon and it’s easy enough to go peat-free in our gardens.

15. Buying locally produced products from local independent businesses helps reduce our carbon footprint, supports nature and boosts the resilience of our communities.

16. We use Too Good To Go to pick up some bargains and reduce food waste.

17. We try to turn the heating down a notch or two and put on an extra layer or snuggle under a blanket to save energy and reduce bills.

18. I sowed a few wildflowers to brighten up a corner of the garden and help our bees.
